The main Costa Rica fishing season in Tamarindo and Papagayo is December thru May although May thru August is considered the prime season for Sailfish, November thru March is considered prime for Marlin but depending on the weather we fish year round for Snapper. Wahoo, Roosterfish, Tuna, Dorado, Sail and Marlin. Since December thru May is the dry season the waters are usually calm, therefore fishing is prime. This is true for Papagayo fishing, Tamarindo fishing and sportfishing in Gunacaste.
The Costa Rica fishing charter rate for a full day is $900.00, 1/2 day $500.00

The most rewarding experience is to hook, catch and release a Marlin and here on the Pacific Coast we have Blue Marlin, about three to five hundred pounds, Black Marlin, seven to nine hundred pounds, and striped Marlin that average about 200 pounds. To hook a Marlin is truly a Kodak moment.
